A pose is a pose is a pose. What’s in a name? That which we call a pose
By any other name would still look as sweet;
Has the Comic Con jumped the shark? Should it even be called “Comic” Con? In this episode one old geek comes to terms with the fact that the comic con has become something else. It has mutated. No, Evolved. No, The comic Con has adapted. Can this old geezer geek accept the change?

Uh oh, looks like Monday will be a scorcher with highs in th 25 thousands with lows in the 20 thousands. But at least things will cool off by Tuesday. That’s your Krypton 7 day forecast, back to you Kal Sohnez.
A little preview of my next creator owned project: THE BLACK ROSE. This book will be a noir-ish tale of lust, paid dues, and tattoos all told in 24 pages of glorious black and white. Including is a brief bit on how i work…i doodle a whole lot on everything and so i i just make panels on scrap paper, index cards, and sticky notes and rearrange the scenes the shots to get the right flow of how the story should be told. Its very instinctual and tactile and works well for me on my projects. When working w/ others that’s a whole other story. THE BLACK ROSE is coming soon!!!

Long John Silver production drawings. Walt Disney Pictures Treasure Planet 2002. Rough animation assistant work by me, Raul Aguirre Jr. for my mentor and boss at the time Glen Keane.
“That’s all they were! Stories!”
+ Treasure Planet (2002) rough frame sketch
I found this sketch over at thedisnerd: thank you for all the wonderful things everyone said about this animation drawing! That was a collaboration between my Mentor Glen Keane (Graphite) and Myself (Blue) I was his assistant on Treasure Planet.
Check out a few of the finished pencil tests from the sequence with little Jim Hawkins and his Mom. I tripped out when I came across these pencil tests posted on youtube by a very talented animator Levi Ames. I tied down and shot these scenes at Disney back in 2002!
In art, the main thing is to always keep the main thing, the main thing.
